【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusefulforanalysisofmanynaturalwatersthatcontainthiocyanatefromorganicdecompositionproductsandwastewaterdischarges.Someindustrialwastes,suchasthosefromthemetallurgicalprocessingofgoldores,steelindustry,petroleumrefining,andcoalgasification,maycontainsignificantconcentrationsofthiocyanate.Thiocyanateperseisnotrecognizedasatoxicchemicalcompound.However,whenchlorinated,thiocyanateisconvertedtothehighlytoxicandvolatilecyanogenchlorideathighpH.Oxidationofthiocyanatemayalsoreleasetoxichydrogencyanide.TheuserofthemethodisadvisedtoperformholdingtimestudiesinaccordancewithPracticeD4841wheneveroxidantsarepresentinthesamples.Forinformationontheimpactofcyanogensandcyanidecompounds,seeAppendixX1ofTestMethodD2036.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthequantitativecolorimetriclaboratorymeasurementofdissolvedthiocyanateinwater,wastewater,andsalinewaterintherangefrom0.1to2.0mg/L.Forhigherconcentrations,useanaliquotfromthedilutedsample.1.1.1Validation8212;Thistestmethodwasvalidatedovertherangeof0.07to1.42mg/L.Thistestmethodwasvalidatedatninelaboratoriesatfourlevels.Thistestmethodmaybevalidforreportingresultsdowntolowerlevelsasvalidatedinindividualuserlaboratories.1.1.2Application8212;Thistestmethodhasbeenvalidatedinreagentwater,TypeII,inmultiplelaboratoriesand7naturalwaters,1laboratoryeffluent,1steelmilleffluent,and2dechlorinatedandtreatedsanitaryeffluentsinsinglelaboratories.Itistheuser''sresponsibilitytoassurethevalidityofthetestmethodonanyuntestedmatrices.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeSection9.
