【摘要】:Determinationofcarbonmonoxideisessentialtoevaluationofmanyairpollutioncomplexes.Thistestmethodderivessignificancefromprovidingsuchdetermination.Carbonmonoxideisformedintheprocessofincompletecombustionofhydrocarbonfuels,andisaconstituentoftheexhaustofgasolineengines.TheEnvironmentalProtectionAgency(EPA)hassetprimaryandsecondaryairqualitystandardsforCOthataredesignedtoprotectthepublichealthandwelfare(3,4).Thistestmethodissuitableformeasurementsappropriateforthepurposesnotedin5.1and5.2.1.1Thistestmethodisapplicabletothedeterminationofthecarbonmonoxide(CO)concentrationoftheatmospherebetween0.6mg/m3(0.5ppm(v))and115mg/m3(100ppm(v)).ThemeasuringprincipleisbasedontheabsorptionofinfraredradiationbyCOinthe4.7mregion(1).1.2Thetestmethodhasalimitofdetectionofabout0.6mg/m3(0.5ppm(v))carbonmonoxideinair.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SeeSectionforadditionalprecautions.
