【摘要】:Thistestmethoddistinguishesbetweenhotmeltshavingdifferentapparentviscosities.Itisbelievedthatapparentviscositydeterminedbythisprocedureisrelatedtoflowperformanceinapplicationmachineryoperatingunderconditionsoflowshearrate.Apparentviscosityasdeterminedbythistestmethodmaynotcorrelatewellwithend-useapplicationswherehighshearratesareencountered.Materialsofthetypedescribedinthisproceduremaybequitenon-Newtonianandassuch,theapparentviscositywillbeafunctionofshearrateundertheconditionsoftest.Althoughtheviscometerdescribedinthistestmethodgenerallyoperatesunderconditionsofrelativelylowshearrate,differencesinsheareffectcanexistdependinguponthespindleandrotationalspeedconditionsselectedforthetestprogram.Maximumcorrelationbetweenlaboratories,therefore,dependsupontestingunderconditionsofequivalentshear.ApproximateshearratesusingvariousspindlesareshowninTableA1.1intheAnnextothistestmethod.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheapparentviscosityofhotmeltadhesivesandcoatingmaterialscompoundedwithadditivesandhavingapparentviscositiesupto200000millipascalsecond(mPa183;s)(Note3)attemperaturesupto175176;C(347176;F).Note18212;Althoughprecisionhasnotbeenstudied,thisproceduremaybeadaptabletoviscositieshigherthanthepresent200000-mPa183;slimitandtemperaturesabove175176;C(347176;F).Equipmentdescribedinthistestmethodpermitstestingofmaterialshavingviscositiesashighas16x106mPa183;sandprovidestemperaturesupto260176;C(500176;F).Note28212;Forpetroleumwaxesandtheirblendshavingapparentviscositiesbelow15mPa183;s,TestMethodD445isespeciallyapplicable.Note38212;Onepascalsecond(Pa183;s)=1000centipoise(CP);onemillipascalsecond=onecentipoise.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
